Happy 7th Birthday Peter!

Happy 7th Birthday to our sweet Pete!  Peter has had a great year!  He loves riding his bike and doing all sorts of crazy tricks on it.   He also loves soccer, swimming, friends, and running all over the neighborhood having a blast!   He has an adventurous spirit and a soft heart, and we love him to pieces! So proud and thankful for the gift God has given us in Peter!

Here's his birthday video:...(click play and then click the cog at the bottom to change the "quality" to 1080)

This was a big year for Peter with lots of new adventures and accomplishments....

He went to All Day Kindergarten.  He LOVED it and had a fun year.

He played his very favorite sport, soccer!  He was excited for every practice and game!  And I mean EVERY single one!

One of the best moments of the year was Peter being baptized on Easter, by Aaron!  There just aren't words to describe what a special time that was.

Peter loves his friends!  Old friends, new friends, potential friends...you get the picture!  He loves to play and he made some great buds this year.

The kids have been taking swimming lessons this year and I can't believe their progress.  Peter loves the water and spent much of the 4th of July weekend jumping off docks and boats, and swimming all over!  He's one brave boy!  One day, he ate lunch shivering in his wet life jacket because he didn't want to waste any precious swimming time having to take it on and off.

And maybe best of all, are the moments we spend enjoying Peter's entertainment!  This boy is always trying to make someone laugh...just ask his teacher towards the end of the year!  Don't miss the 6 second video below where he declared "Scuba Gangnam Style!"

Priceless...

I took Peter to Kindergarten open house today. We met his amazing teacher, Mrs. Hunter, who asked, "Peter, how will you go home everyday?" (meaning by bus or parent pickup)

He answered, "well, I think I'll go home happy everyday."

 And I bet he will!

Summer Camp...Peter style...

Peter (5 yrs old) and I went out running errands tonight.  I love being in the car with just him because he can talk without having his older brother correct nearly everything he says.  (oh big brothers!)  Anyway, after telling me he thought that it wasn't really summer because it's not hot enough, he started talking about the summer camps he wants to do.  Here's how the conversation went...

Peter:  Hey mom, did you find out if I'm old enough to go to football camp?

Me:  No, I forgot to look.  Let's check when we get home.

Peter:  Well, we don't really need to, because I decided I'd rather go to hunting camp.

Me:  What?

Peter:  Hunting camp.

Me:  What do kids do at hunting camp?

Peter:  Look for animals, and shoot 'em.

Me:  Oh.  Wow.  ummmmmm.  what do you mean shoot 'em?

Peter:  You know, with guns.   You hide, look for animals, and then jump out and shoot 'em.

Me:  I'm not really sure there is hunting camp around here.

Peter:  YES, there is.

Me:  Do you have to bring your own gun to hunting camp?

Peter:  No, I bet they have them there.  Kinda like how my soccer coach had that bag of balls at every practice.

Me:  Okay, soooooooo, let's be sure to check on that football camp.  Or maybe soccer camp.

I love that kid.  Can you even imagine...hunting camp...where the "coach" shows up with a bag of guns?  Ridiculous!

Happy 5th Birthday, Peter

Peter,

Happy Birthday sweet Pete!  You are 5 years old...which seems almost impossible!  You are such a fun, smart, brave, adventurous boy.  One of my favorite things about you is that you experience life to the fullest...body, mind, and soul!  You had a great year of playing indoor soccer and t-ball!  You are quite an athlete and I'm so proud of the way you are learning to be a good sport and teammate.    You also went to 4 year old preschool.  You learned so much, and are especially interested in math and numbers.   You are also an amazing big brother.  You are especially attentive to Benjamin, loving him, taking care of him, and making him giggle all of the time.

I love you Peter!  God has given you so many qualities that I admire.  You are a joy to be around and I am so proud of you.

Thank you for being our son.
We love you more than you could ever imagine.

love,
mommy

Our very own kangaroo...

We have our very own kangaroo...his name is Peter.  Whenever we try to put Peter to bed, he bounces out...over and over and over and over again.  Now I know all of you "non judgmental" moms are thinking, "Oh please, I could solve that problem."  So, rest assured we are working on it.

The other night I put everyone in bed, and then I was sitting in our room, feeding Benjamin to put  him to bed as well.   In 1.2 seconds Peter popped in, and here is how the conversation went over the next few minutes...

Peter:  "Um, mom, I know I'm not suppose to be out of bed, but I have to tell you something."

Me:  "what?"

Peter: "um, um, um, um...now I can't remember.  I'll go think about it and come back."

Me:  "no, why don't you just tell me in the morning."

He goes back to his room for approximately 10 seconds...

Peter:  "oh yeah, I remembered.  Natalie's out of bed."

Me:  "okay, I'll take care of it.  go to bed."

Peter:  "oh wait, no she's not.  she's in her bed."

Me:  "okay, go to bed."

10 seconds later.

Peter:  "hey mom, Luke's already asleep."

Me:  "great, you should be too.  go to bed."

10 seconds later

Peter: "oh wait mom, no he's not asleep.  he might have just been closing his eyes.  maybe he has something in his eye."

Me:  "whatever, I'm sure he's fine.  go to bed."

about 10 seconds later

Peter:  "mom, he doesn't have anything in his eye.  but, he should get in trouble because he said I was annoying and told me to leave him alone. "

Me:  "peter, leave EVERYONE alone and go to bed."

Peter:  "mom, I just checked and Natalie is singing to herself."

Me:  "so?"

Peter:  "she's keeping me awake."

Me:  "PETER..GO TO BED.  if I see you again, your pokemon cards are MINE."

shoulders slump and he walks out of my room.
about 10 seconds later...

Peter:  "mom, you know, it's not very nice to yell at me."

Me:  "Ughhhh, I can't win.  believe me Peter, it's gonna get a lot worse if you don't get in bed."

Let's just say that I ended up with a whole stack of pokemon cards for 24 hours!

love our little kangaroo, but sure wish he'd go to bed!
